How do we understand the relationship between technology, people and the ecology ofthefuturetoday? How can holistic thinking and technological diversity be used to solve humanity's most fundamental problems? A As a metaphor for an ecosystem in which technology and natural forces are intertwined, "balcony" may provide us a new perspective. Can we imagine technology, society and ecology in the context of lived intimacy? "Balcony" is not a divide between technology and nature, between individual and society, but rather as a system of multiple actors interacting. In the future, we may therefore find inspiration for coexistence with all beings. 

Diane Xing, the curator of the Hyundai Blue Prize 2022, argues in her exhibition Balcony of the Brave, "We are not looking at the uninhabited wilderness because our goal is not to retrace the impersonal, pure "nature," nor is it to appeal to technological progress to infinitely repair the damage we have caused to the planet. Faced with such a chaotic present and uncertain future, we require the technology rooted in life and the experimental field that unites all human and non-human forces to rethink the relationship between humans and everything in the present.

On the 24th of June, 2022, Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing will host a forum curated by Diane Xing to provide insight into pertinent discourses. Artists, philosophers, and architects are encouraged to investigate alternative paths to our future society and ecology.
